Strength Training for Jiu Jitsu

I love my game and I can't wait to start expanding my knowledge on the moves and improve my technique. I have always had trouble with using power/explosions since the beginning. I have always known that I needed to work on it and that is exactly what I'm starting to do.

I have many reasons that I'm just now starting to work on using some of my power/explosion, but the most important one is to improve my game. I'm starting to do this by using the long range and short range bands that you can find on the amazon store(martial paradise). There are many videos on the YouTube channel showing you how to use the bands and what they are for. I may use them for Jiu Jitsu purposes, but that is not all they are used for. I'm only doing these exercises the days that I don't have Jiu Jitsu.

I have always worked very hard on my technique, but recently I started to notice that I was having trouble with some of the more advanced moves. I learned a triangle from side control that requires a quick transition and I was really struggling. My coach, as usual, worked patiently with me and gave me some homework to do which I've been working on ever since. My dad and I started working out together, and with the aid of the bands, doing exercises that will specifically help me with Jiu Jitsu.

At the end of the day, Jiu Jitsu is my fitness program and my life, but with the aid of strength training, it can only get better. I can't remember a time that I ever wanted to lift weights, but my dad has been trying to talk me into it and that is what Jiu Jitsu does for you. It makes you want to get better in every aspect of life. I am much more relaxed in regular life, constantly trying to improve, and look at the world differently ever since it became a very important part of me.

Below are some links to the bands and the Martial Paradise YouTube channel. Please give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
